# healthcare.dev

URL: https://docs.healthcare.dev

healthcare.dev serves US healthcare reference data (diagnosis and procedure codes, HCPCS, drugs,
and soon providers) through one consistent API. Every response says where the data came from and
which release it is, so you and your agents can cite it.

```sh
curl https://api.healthcare.dev/v1/codes/icd10cm/E11.9 \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $HDEV_API_KEY"
```

## Start here

- [Quickstart](/quickstart): your first call in under two minutes.
- [MCP server](/mcp): give Claude, Cursor, Codex or VS Code direct access to the data.
- [API reference](/reference): every endpoint, generated from the OpenAPI spec.

## What you get

## Ground rules

- **Reference data, not medical advice.** Nothing here is clinical, coding or billing advice.
- **No PHI, ever.** Send only identifiers of public things (codes, NDCs, NPIs, names of drugs).
  Never send patient names, dates of birth, member IDs or anything else about a person.
- **Always cite.** Each response carries `meta.source`, `meta.data_version` and `meta.license`.

## For agents

Machine-readable entry points: [`/llms.txt`](/llms.txt), [`/llms-full.txt`](/llms-full.txt),
[`/openapi.json`](/openapi.json), and a Markdown copy of every page (add `.md` to the URL, for
example [`/quickstart.md`](/quickstart.md)). See [Agent skill](/agents/skill).
